A Day in the #Hamptons with @ExhaleSpa Bridgehampton…

It was early Saturday morning when we boarded the Hampton Jitney to exhale mind body spa Bridgehampton.

We arrived to a flurry of activity as exhale Core Fusion classes were packed from morning through afternoon as regulars and newcomers came for a unique full-body workout. The classes were busier than usual, a boon from a recent feature in Hamptons Magazine and from a special Get Fit & Help Fight Domestic Hunger event with Women’sHealth Magazine, FEED, grapenuts, and Starbucks.

We had an amazing trunk show with fellow jewelry, Ali Grace, and apparel, Sundry, vendors. And, we spent some time relaxing in the Hamptons! Until next time…

We’ve been featured! So wonderful to be among great company C.o.bigelow Apethecary – Home RemidiesExhale SpaNew York City Department of Environmental Protection, Beth Israel Medical Group, Anthony Aiden Opticians.

It’s not a secret that summer in the city can be a tough thing to sweat out.  The beaming hot sun and the constant humidity can take a tole on anyone, so here are some tips to help care for yourself during summer’s swealtering sunny days:

1. Don’t be afraid to lather on too much sunscreen.

Use sunscreen anytime you’re going outside.  Even if you’re not planning on laying out on top of your roof all day, putting on sunscreen keeps your skin feeling moisturized and will save you from waking up the next morning and regretting your newly acquired scorchingly painful red skin color.  Head over to C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries and find the sunscreen that’s right for you.

2.  Polish and purify your skin with a Glow Body Scrub at Exhale Spa.

After a long, hot, summer day in New York, it’s never uncommon for your body to feel a little beat up.  It might be a great idea to visit the nearest Exhale Spa and relax as you exfoliate, detox, and revitalize your worn out skin.  Exhale offers a variety of body treatments, detoxes, and scrubs, as well as a multitude of different face therapies and peels to rejuvenate your skin during the summer.

There are seven different NY locations, which can be found here

3. Treat your seared skin with Naturally Susan’s Avocado Lavender Salve

Dry, rough spots don’t stand a chance against this premium, vitamin-rich moisturizer.  With A, E, and various B vitamins, Naturally’s Susan’s bestselling Avocado Lavender Salve alleviates dry skin with ease and is a great product to have around during the hot city months.  Naturally Susan’s carries a myriad of natural bath, body, and skincare products, and has been a GVCCC favorite for years.  |  (646) 580-6291

4.  Get yourself checked with a skin consultation at Beth Israel Medical Group.

As much as people hate doing it, it’s always a good idea to go in for a skin checkup, especially if you’ve been spending everyday out under the hot sun.  Sun exposure is one of the biggest causes to skin cancer, and can be very difficult to treat if found late.  No appointments are necessary at Beth Israel or Roosevelt Hospital, so go get checked out at the Primary or Urgent Care facilities and make sure your skin is as healthy as ever.

5.  Shield your eyes from harmful UV rays.

Sometimes you end up staring at the sun, mesmerized by its shear size and brightness…not good.  Go check out Anthony Aiden Opticians , and try on some of the premium eyewear that Aiden has to offer.  Besides carrying trendy sunglasses, Aiden has a great eye exam service, and can provide you with custom and prescription lenses.

6. Stay hydrated.

It’s that simple. The NYC Environmental Protection group has set up NYC Water on the go,  portable water fountains located throughout the city.  One of the most important things to remember when you’re out in the sun all day is to stay hydrated.  It’s the best way to stay healthy and feel better, especially when the days keep getting unbearably warmer.  Check out the schedule and locations of the Water on the go, here

We had a Downward Dog Day with @ExhaleSpa & @MeatpackingNY!

exhale mind body spa & MPIA hosts Downward Dogs Days

We  had a Downward Dog Day at Gansevoort Plaza! Hosted by exhale mind body spa and the MPIA (Meatpacking District Improvement  Association), the Downward Dog Days of Summer series offers free yoga classes to the general public. The evening sessions were fully booked, so we signed up for an afternoon session.

It was a beautiful and sunny afternoon for our first-ever outdoor yoga class! Such a different experience doing yoga outdoors. We did get distracted watching planes flying by overhead when we were supposed to be doing the bridge and wheel poses though. 🙂

After the class, our VROU friends quenched our thirst with bottles of Cucumber Lime water. A refreshing must-try! But one thing that’s easy to forget when you’re having fun outdoors is the beating sun. Our nose and cheekbones got rosy from too much sun, yet our Lavender Chamomile Roll On Moisturizer came to our rescue! We rolled some on and it calmed the redness right away. Yes…it’s great for soothing sunburn!

We hope that you have the chance to register for one of the free yoga classes at exhale mind body spa. It’s a great way to enjoy the Summer!

Happy Yoga-ing!
